Sword & Shield Simulator Patch Notes
Day One Patch first, then the demo input notes, written so you can test them in ten minutes.
This page is a player-facing digest, not a dump of every Steam news post. Official text lives on the Steam news hub for app 2052650. The live numbered build after launch is Day One Patch 1.0.26.08.12.3, posted the morning after Early Access. We keep the lines that change how you play tonight. If a review still contradicts a patch, believe your exe, then report it. Early Access is allowed to regress.
Pair this with Performance and Bugs and Controls. After you confirm the hammer click, go back to How to Forge.
Day One Patch (1.0.26.08.12.3)
The studio’s own subtitle was that your first day of bug reports became fixes. Highlights that change a session:
- Clipping a guard with the cart now opens a dialogue about your behaviour instead of a loading screen into a cell. See lockpicking and prison.
- If you are in prison anyway, wait about two minutes for a guard to release you. Guards in the cell can no longer see you through barrels.
- Chisel / disassembly sword duplication is fixed. Stop farming clones. Update, then test once.
- Quest markers landed on Bloodlands and Grainmill. The in-game map view was reworked. Navigation was the loudest day-one complaint.
- Keybinds actually save. Item prices show on the UI. A double UI input bug with an item preview plus a chest is fixed. Pop-ups have a cooldown. Intro pop-ups and a Discord button sit in the menu.
- Bloodlands: side-quest rewards, more shooting-range arrows, updated guard paths. Danburg: NPC stairs fix; farm gate delay so pigs stay in. Deer meat preview. Axe no longer resets on wolves. Armour and helmets should not randomly jump onto the hotbar. Armory reinforcement save is fixed. Dialogue volume slider works.
What they are looking at next, in their words: economy and trading balance, settings that tune feel, menu and window input, and more bugs. That is a direction, not a dated roadmap. Discord from that post: https://discord.gg/ZWaKJdhVcj.
Older demo notes that still matter
A dedicated UI fix targeted the bug where the mouse could not interact with UI or was misaligned. If you still have it, the team asked for a DxDiag. VSync can still add lag even when the pointer is aligned. Turn it off if the cursor is late. Demo notes also said Performance Mode no longer suffered heavy FPS drops. Use it in Danburg crowds.
The sword workbench disappearing while designing or casting was marked fixed in demo notes. If your bench vanishes anyway, reload. Do not keep placing sword parts into air. Inactive input after exiting the cart was listed as resolved in a demo patch. If WASD dies after a wagon, wait, click the world, re-enter.
How to test a new patch in ten minutes
- Copy your save.
- Load a street. Click a UI button. If it misses, stop and collect DxDiag.
- Swing once at the anvil. If the click is late, toggle VSync and Performance Mode.
- Enter and exit the cart. Bump a guard on a spare save — you should get talk, not a cell.
- Open the designer, place one part, back out. Disassemble once; you should not clone a blade.
- Open the map. Confirm markers on Bloodlands and Grainmill before a long travel run.
When Steam posts a newer numbered patch, we will fold the player-facing lines into this list and leave the marketing sentences on the floor. The Updates Hub is the parent. The roadmap is the future, including Talstein. This page is the past that still touches your mouse.
What launch reviews still contradict
Stuck battlefields, ghost storage, unexplained travel costs, and trader prices that ignore quality were live in the first days after 11 August 2026. Day One fixed several of those headlines. It did not claim the till now respects a masterwork, and it did not claim every cart soft-lock is dead. If a patch claims “input fixed” and your hammer is still late, you are not crazy. Test the ten-minute loop, then post evidence. Sibling Performance and Bugs stays the live troubleshooting doc. Copy the save, verify Steam files, and post the video. Then go make a nail until the click feels honest. The forge checklist is a better next tab than another news thread.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is my bug already fixed?
Check the newest Steam news, then test. Demo fixes do not guarantee launch-week stability.
Where do I send a new bug?
Steam forums or Discord, with video. Pointer issues may need DxDiag. Store support email is support_swordshield@ultimate-games.com.
Do I need to reinstall after a patch?
Usually no. Verify files on Steam if benches or UI break after an update.
Will this page list every hotfix?
No. It lists the ones that change play. Read Steam for the full feed.
