Talstein in Sword & Shield Simulator
The occupied city on the roadmap — not a fourth playable region in the current three-slice build.
Talstein is the name players search when they want the rest of the game. Wildlands Interactive’s Early Access FAQ is blunt: the playable slice today is Danburg, Bloodlands, and Grainmill. Talstein is the largest region still to come, with around 98 more story missions and roughly a dozen locations. This page is so you stop treating a 2025 trailer as a walkable street.
Read it next to the roadmap and How to Travel Regions. If a quest marker now points at Bloodlands or Grainmill, that is the Day One Patch doing its job. If a marker points at a cathedral you cannot enter, that is this page.
What is promised
The public FAQ names town hall, cathedral, arena, market, thieves’ guild, alchemist, goldsmith, and a bastion final battle. A buildable siege machine, a boss fight, and cutscenes sit on the same list. Higher-tier sword parts, a deeper mine and mixture system, and a wider hunting set are the other two Early Access expansion pillars — they are not Talstein-only, but they are not all in your current designer either. See sword parts and hunting.
Devlog #25 frames Holtsdorf Forest as the last wild frontier before the occupied city of Talstein. Richard walks a canopy of slave hunters, a silent sawmill, a captured farm, a watermill smuggling flour toward Danburg, a Song Dynasty camp on the Silk Road, and a herbalist hut. That is story geography. Steam’s current region list still has three names. Do not clip a Grainmill fence looking for Li Wang’s porcelain unless your map actually opens that camp.
What you can play instead
Danburg is the forge and the first contracts. Bloodlands is the harsher road; the Day One Patch added quest markers, side-quest rewards, extra shooting-range arrows, and new guard paths there. Grainmill is the mill-and-field sibling that launch reviews often could not reach — the same patch put markers on that map view too. Walk those three. Make steel. The city on the poster will not spawn because you want it.
If a YouTuber shows a bastion or an arena, check the date. Prologue, demo, and playtest footage are not the 11 August 2026 Early Access slice. The only YouTube review we embed on this wiki is the short look on the Early Access review page, and even that is older than the Negative Steam sample.
How to wait without rotting
- Keep a Danburg save that can still forge. Unique parts deserve a file before any patch.
- After each Steam news post, skim patch notes. Day One already changed prison, chisel dupes, and the map UI.
- Do not dump a masterpiece into a shrine because a rumour said Talstein wants five swords. Read the in-game prompt. Travel costs are still partly player-reported.
- When Talstein actually ships, this page will stop saying “planned” and start saying where the gate is. Until then, the Map Hub has three children that work and this one that tells the truth.
The studio estimated three to six months of Early Access, mainly for balance, remaining content order, and bugs. That is an estimate. Economy and feel are still on their own “what we are looking at next” list after Day One. A cathedral on a late cursor is still a late cursor. Fix the hammer with Performance and Bugs, then wait for the city.
Talstein is the reason to stay subscribed to Steam news. It is not the reason to ignore Getting Started. The occupied city will matter when you can walk it. Today, Danburg still needs nails.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Can I go to Talstein in Early Access?
Not as a finished fourth region. Steam lists Danburg, Bloodlands, and Grainmill. Talstein is the large follow-up on the FAQ.
Is Holtsdorf Forest in the current build?
It is named in Devlog #25 as the wild approach to Talstein. It is not a fourth listed region. Walk what your map opens.
What lands with Talstein?
Around 98 more story missions, about a dozen locations including cathedral and bastion, a siege machine, a boss fight, and cutscenes — as promised, not as a dated patch.
Should I wait to buy until Talstein?
If you want the large city, yes. If you want to test the forge loop, the three-region slice is the product. Read the Early Access review.
